Swedish Openface Shrimp Sandwich

"Räkmacka" is served at any traditional Swedish coffee establishment.


White bread, sliced (one slice per sandwich)
Hardboiled eggs(one egg per sandwich)
Shrimp, cooked and peeled
Lemon, thinly sliced (1-3 slices per sandwich)
Cucumber, thinly sliced (1-3 slices per sandwich)
Fresh dill


  1. Butter one side of a slice of bread.
  2. Place a lettuce leaf on the butter so one third of the leave is outside the bread crust.
  3. Slice an egg and arrange in the middle on the butter and part of the lettuce leaf.
  4. Squeeze or pipe the mayo onto the egg.
  5. Place shrimp neatly on top of the mayonaise.
  6. Decorate with lemon, cucumber, and dill.

Other occations to serve "Räkmacka":

- Serve as an dinner appetizer on individual plates.
- Substitute the white bread loaf with French baguette for finger food version.
